Royal Highland Show
When the city of Edinburgh becomes a rural destination…
Held at the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston, the Highland Show is one of Europe’s biggest celebrations of farming, food and rural life. They’ve got everything from shopping and tasty treats, to live music, entertainment and competitions. And it’s all just a 35-minute drive from our front door, on the 22nd – 25th June.
The show welcomed almost 200,000 visitors last year, and this year’s 177th show is set to draw in just as many – and that’s not including the animals! There will be a huge amount of farm creatures too, with everything from the finest horses and cattle, to the best sheep and goats competing for first prize.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a rural or city type, there are loads of interesting things for all ages at the Highland Show. Take a look first-hand at how Farriers create the perfect horseshoe, or watch the heavy horses thunder around at the turnouts. There are musicians, group dancers and military bands with pipes and drums.
From foodies and animal lovers, to those who enjoy doing something just a little bit different, there’s plenty to keep you busy on the 100-acre site.
